Where does bad breath come from?

There often seems to be some really bad smells coming from the back of the throat; tonsil bad breath, in fact.

What makes your tonsils smell bad and how come they “infect” the rest of your mouth so you can really suffer from the smell yourself as well as spreading this bad breath around to family, friends and strangers?

A major cause of tonsil bad breath is tonsil stones or tonsilloliths.

They form from food and other particles and get caught in your tonsil crypts. They can be effectively treated without tonsil surgery.
