Tonsillolith Removal

I use the pointy end of a comb to remove a nasty tonsillolith. This may make you gag or vomit.

I must’ve swallowed it in my sleep, because the next day I woke up and it was gone. :O

Not sure why it smells so badly, but after doing research on other websites, other people say it smells horrid for them, too.

    Get it out!!!! lol

Why does it smell bad? It is literally calcified (hardened) pus.
Tonsils produce leukocytes (white blood cells) so when a piece of food or bacteria get caught in your tonsils, they throw leukocytes at it (pus). The leukocytes collect around the intruder and make a case. When these tonsil stones crack, or get too big, they smell!

I just got one of these for the first time in my life. It smells terrible; every time I swallow, it’s irritating; and every time I burp, I get a God-awful taste in my mouth! DX

man i feel your pain! i’m lucky enough not to have one near that gag area near the back of the throat yet…i normally use a q tip bt i might suggest kinda massaging it out because these things are often like icebergs. by the time we notice them, they’re deeper than what’s actually seen.

I’ve been there. Pointy comb is not too bad. Hurts a little.
May I suggest my favorite prying mechs; 1. Sharpie (non cap end), 2. Teaspoon handle 3. Q-tip.

Personally, the Sharpie (butt end) seems to be the less painless. The Stainless steel spoon (rounded), is also mildly pleasant. The Q-tip does the job but hurts. The Comb is okay but you have to be pretty accurate. It’s easy to lacerate the soft material, and the comb handle is pretty sharp.
