What are these white spots on my tonsils?

My throat has been hurting for about 2 days, and I just looked at my tonsils and there were white spots on them.
What is this, do I have to get my tonsils taken out?

Those are puss pockets, which is indicative of an infection. Go see your doctor and let him give you some antibiotics, which will get rid of them. Take Tylenol or Advil for the pain.
In regards to having your tonsils removed, only your doctor can make that diagnosis.

Pustule’s. Could be a streptococcus infection. Could be a lot of things. You will most likely need anti-biotics.

That is usually a symptom of tonsillitis or a combination of a throat infection/Mono. It doesn’t necessarily mean your tonsils have to get removed, but you may have an infection. I would go see a doctor.

Sounds like you have strep throat…go to the doc! No need to get your tonsils out if you have it treated properly. The doc will prescribe you an antibiotic which will take care of it pretty quickly!

you need to go see a doctor, sounds as if you may have tonsilitis, you tonsils seem infected and may need antibiotics, doesnt mean you have to have your tonsils out, also gargle with salt water that will help it go away too.

White spots are common with a variety of throat infections, including strep and tonsilitis. The white is pus from the infection. Usually throat infections clear on their own, but if it stays very painful for a few days, you may need a strep test to determine if that’s what you have. You don’t usually need your tonsils out unless you have frequent, recurrent throat infections.

It is in them, not on them.

It is food matter, usually french fries or chips, white bread, buns or pasta.

If you are not squeamish, you can poke them out with your baby finger.

If you see a doctor, they misunderstand and do throat swabs which come back negative.

Again, it is food, but it will build up and lead to infection if not removed. Also produces acute bad breath.

Gargling, medication, salt, nothing helps. It requires hands on and produces the gagging reflex, or vomitting. Sorry.

It takes a lot, extreme poor health before doctors will remove tonsils now. You should learn to deal with it, or see multiple EENT specialists till you find a sympathetic surgeon.

i get white spots all the time and i have never had strep. i never take antibiotic for it because its just a infection of the tonsils caused by a virus. the white spots are an inflammatory reaction, its your immune system working. white spots don’t mean strep, but keep reading.

You should get tested for strep if you have a fever or a headache though.
