What to do when your tonsils are swollen and hurt?

It started with a gum infection possibly because of something I ate. Now the gums are almost okay but my tonsils hurt. Why is that? What can I do?

I’m also feeling cold.

There’s nothing you can do beyond rest and possibly antibiotics, which you will need to see a doctor for. You can try a warm, salt-water gargle. Since this started with a gum infection, you probably ought to seek medical advice.

Have them removed. Make sure it’s not strep throat or something like that. Go to the doctor – get antibiotics if there is an infection; which tonsilitis is.

It could be an infection in the gums or the throat. I think you should get it checked. Till your appt., get some sore throat spray. Cepacol works good so does Vicks.
