Why do i have a hole in my tonsil that gets white stuff in it that smells bad and hurts?

I get this white thing on my tonsil and when i get it out it smells really bad and leaves a hole. I dont know if i should just not worry about it because i went to the doctor and he was just like whatever. But it hurts really bad and it comes back every week. And right before i get it i have like a day that i feel like i have a sinus infection. I dont know what is going on but i’d really like to know.

The tonsils gather up rubbish, germs and stuff and push them out through those "holes". Yes, it smells AWFUL, but it’s waste material that needs to be expelled because if it stays in the body, it could cause infections and other problems. My guess is that in your case it’s from the sinsuses, since you say the day before you feel as though you have a sinus infection. The tonsils are just doing their job!

It’s a pity the doctor couldn’t have explained this to you, but you really don’t need to worry – it’s normal. It’s only if you have it all day and every day and a continual sore throat that you might need antibiotics, because that would suggest that the tonsils are being overloaded with rubbish and finding it difficult to deal with it all. If they are, there is clearly an on-going underlying infection that needs antibiotic treatment to clear it up and allow the tonsils to recover so they can do their job properly without being overwhelmed.

i agree with Tony. the same thing happened to me and it was not strep throat. it was actually tiny food paritcles that continued to get stuck back on the tonsils. i had to get them removed and the problem was gone. still get to a doctor and see whats up.

When I was young I got tonsil-itis alot. My mother took me to an ear-nose-throat doctor. These things are all connected. Look up what your tonsils do and see if you can pinpoint what’s going on.

It’s definitely an infection – go to the doctor. Not the dentist like the other person that posted. A Dentist can’t help with tonsils!

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonsillolith

A tonsillolith (also called tonsil stone or calculus of the tonsil) is a piece (or more commonly, a cluster) of calcareous matter which forms in the rear of the mouth, in the crevasses (called crypts) of the palatine tonsils (which are what most people commonly refer to as simply tonsils).

Tonsil stones, it is theorized, are the result of a combination of any of the following[1]:

    food particles
dead white blood cells (a.k.a. leukocytes)
    oral bacteria
    overactive salivary glands
They are described as having a pungent odor[2]: halitosis concentrated into a small solid object. Visually, they may resemble sesame seeds or cottage cheese in color and texture.

Protruding tonsilloliths have the feel of a foreign object, lodged between the outside of wisdom teeth and the temporomandibular joint region of the fleshed jaw. They may be an especially uncomfortable nuisance, but are not often harmful.

Yes this is strange and many doctors don’t know, there are many articles about this do some resaerch and you may find this is what you have.

There is a toothpaste that will help with this is it Therabreath.
I use it and it really helps. good luck

Tonsils collect bacteria. Bacteria can come from bad water and old food. When they get overloaded they get infected. Try some bottled water.
